Default one peeve with 3D gaming

If there is one thing that I'm not too impressed with 3D is the gaming aspect. I don't think that I'd be playing any 3D games that are coming out now. For one, even with the current crop, nothing has really wowed me. For another, it's all to confusing for me and I really think 3D is great only for movies and TV.

Hmmmn... personally, I think there is a problem of perception about 3D. I mean most people think 3D and think about those gadawful glasses they had 50 years ago. People should think in terms of digital 3D nowadays.

Not to brag, but I have a 3D TV and I've played some games using its 3D version. I tell you, 3D literally and figuratively adds a new dimension to gaming.

I don't know about you, but wearing glass just doesn't work for me. For one, most 3D games coming out are too dark to start with. I get dizzy thinking about how much darker it would get with the glasses.

I disagree with you. I think that it will be great to have 3D even if you have the glasses. I tell you, it's worth it.

I guess you guys should be looking forward to invincible tiger, it's a kungfu style game that has 3D capabilities. And its developer says that it is not like the current crop of games, like PC games wherein you just get those old glasses and download patches and they say it's 3D.

That only gives you a "cheap trick" it's nice to look at but there really is nothing there that adds value. I agree that some games should rather stay in 2D.

Well the thing is, anything 3D -- even gaming -- will have to wait until people get out and buy a 3D TV. That in itself is one of the challenges right now.

Well, do you guys know that 3D standard today requires anything 3D to run at 60 frames per second at 1080p. That means that you get games, videos, etc at amazing resolution and speed? But that would mean that game developers would have a tremendous amount of work to do PER frame... since the resolution is sooo high! I don't think that with the current level of 3d TV owners (ONLY 1% of the entire TV-owning population has 3d TV), getting 3d into games is not a sound investment.
