Default 2D Classics to get 3D treatment

I keep hearing that films like Night of the Living Dead and other classic films are going to be released in 3D. What do you think about this?

I think it is great. At least these masterpieces as you call them would be seen by this generation and not just confined to film festivals and other obscure events to be shown.

That’s true. Besides, there is nothing new with old movies in 3D. Am sure some of these masterpieces were released in 3D back when it was originally shown in theatres. And I agree, the fact that they will be seen by the younger set would be a big plus. Let them know the movies our parents enjoyed.

San Diego’s passmorelabs have converted Night of the Living Dead into 3D, and that they are hoping that more movies would follow suit soon. If you remember, this is a classic that was first shot more than 40 years ago. I’ve also heard that the conversion cost more than the film’s original budget and took more than a year to do.

Well, my friend has a movie theatre. He says that the investment is worth it granting that most 3D showings are SRO events and that they could charge more for the movie.

Well, these 2D classics have stiff competition. For one, there are 30 3D movies that's due to come out in 2010. Not to mention the list of movies in 2009 that are in 3D.

Actually that's because 3D TVs are still in their infancy. So there is no demand for it yet in homes.

Well, I think that's bound to change. As 3D movies become blockbusters, they are sure to find its way to Bluray.

Why Bluray? Why not CDs or DVDs?
