Default 3D on the cloud!

I went to the San Francisco Web 2.0 summit and one of the biggest drawers there was NVIDIA's RealityServer, which combines graphics processing units and software... making it possible for 3D images and other 3D applications to be done on the cloud.

Hmmmn... this is nothing new. Google has its Sketchup and building services... these are totally on the cloud.

I think what is new here is the platform itself. NVIDIA has made sure that 3D could be seen on any PC, laptop, smartphone connected to the Web.

I've read about this one and they said that you will be able to have more photorealistic 3D content if you use this platform. And not just creating the 3D images but also sharing it securely.

I think that the cloud allows you to work as a team. What NVIDIA has banked on is that there would be lots of companies that would be working with 3D soon. And this will help them collaborate.

Yup you're right. SceneCaster used this platform for the 3D scenes you see on facebook.

One pet peeve though is that it does not allow users to manipulate the objects you see onscreen

That's weird, I thought that NVIDIA said that the platform also allows for user interaction?

It does, but that is limited by technology available now.
